Badaling is the most famous and well-preserved. You can see the walls winding up and down the mountain. But you may encounter crowd there.

Totally disagree with previous post. Badaling is over restored, over crowded and in my opinion one of the least photogenic.

I really liked Huangyaguan, the walk over the top covers great views, as well as old parts of the wall, where it is single sided and quite narrow. For nearer to Beijing, then Mutianyu is a much nicer visit and only a little further out than Badaling. Laolongtou was OK, but very new and very restored, while Juyongguan was also interesting. Walking over the dam and up to the wall at Huanghuacheng is also worth considering.

Horse trekking to the wall was truly amazing.
