Moscow to Beijing train journey - Is side trip to Urumqi advisable ?

guest07859 I will be travelling from Moscow to Beijing. I wonder where can I break-off to visit Urumqi and how can it be done in the cheapest manner ? After that, I intend to fly to Beijing directly.

Beijing is closer to Moscow than Urumqi. Why not travel in Beijng first and then go to Urumqi by train? Personally, I think it is better than going to Urumqi first and then fly to Beijing from Urumqi.
