Hey everyone just moved to Chengdu in the East side of the city and have been here just over a week and am really missing home. I have travelled many times before and this is the first time I feel real lonely as there is nothing to do here in this part of the city the only thing that keeps me sane is work even though that is beginning to stress me out too as there are too many crossed wires with colleagues.

There is nothing to see or do in the East side as it is mainly massive apartments everywhere and I am told the number 77 bus runs from here to the south of the city but I wouldn't even know where the bus station is or what lies in the south of the city.
Does anyone have any suggestions or maps or where to go as I don't think I can cope being alone here as all my colleagues as wonderful as they are don't have time outside work hours as they have families to get back to.
I should have learned some Chinese as so far I have been ripped off by taxi drivers, shop keepers over charging me as well as peddie cab drivers who got agressive at one point and overall negative experiences since being here.
I don't want to feel depressed any more and just looking for some friendly advice for a newcomer to Chengdu thanks everyone.
Also please don't think I am tarring the people of Chengdu in a bad way as I have heard they are the nicest so this isn't a personal attack I am just expressing how I have been feeling and hope for helpful advice.
