3 of us will be in Beijing in April and would like to visit Simitai. Do you think we can hire a taxi for the day to take us there, then on to Chengde? What would it cost? How would we find one?

Ni hao Bunny,

Simatai is a 3h drive by car each way. Taking a cab would be close to insanity, so I would recommend the one and only Mr. John to you!
He gives you a ride to the wall of Simatai and back for 60 Kuai per person in a jeep. He is the best guy for organizing trips to Simatai!

His place is called ManGuoXiangHuoGuoDian.
TieShuXieJie No. 66, XuanWu District.

Chengde is some 250km from Beijing, so forget about cabs.....
I planned to go there two years ago but I failed. My plan was taking the train for about 4h and 40 Kuai or the bus for 3,5h and 30 Kuai.
