I am a U.S. citizen who owns stock in a Chinese company; the annual meeting is scheduled in Shanghai. Would I apply for a tourist L visa or a business F visa? I want to travel to Shanghai for the meeting and stay extra days to see the sights, probably up to 21 days. Also, as an individual my employer is the U.S. Postal Service. On the visa application would I check under occupation "government official" or "other"? The remaining choices don't fit what I do for work.

Thanks Amber for your thoughts. I appreciate having a consensus before going to the Consulate office to submit my visa application. Blessings to you.

You are travelling as a tourist and you are not travelling as a US official
