Chinese Visa on Arrival coming from HK by Train or Bus
Sep 22, 2010 01:38
guestBenny Greetings everyone ...

I have to do the obligatory visa run after my boss refused to help me extend it. Problem being that it expires on the 30th of Sept, 2010 and I will need to be there on the 29th and hopefully get a VOA when I come back from HK by train or bus.

Does anyone know if they still issue these at the HK/Macau/Guangzhou arrivals area? Or the departure points from HK? So close to Nov. Holiday that I don't want to end up hanging around for a week or so waiting for the visa office to open again!

I am an Australian citizen, by the way ... I heard that helps!

My Boss has said that it can be done, but I would love some confirmation before I left if possible to make my trip easier!

Thanks ahead of time ...

Benny

GUEST19626 If your visa expires on the 30th, most likely on the 29th you will be refused entry into China. You can apply for Chinese visa at China Travel Service in HK or Macau. Takes about 1 day. Good luck.

You should apply for a new visa in HK... see the TCG visa info section for more details. I have heard that you will only get 1 month at this time...no doubt because of the Asian Games, but ask for multiple entry 3 months valid for 1 year and see what they will give. If you are working you should try for an F visa (from your comments a Z is out of the question) but it needs your boss's help. Then you might get it within China, but you can also apply in HK and can perhaps get a longer visa. If your boss won't help: find a new job!

GUESTBENNY I see, thanks guys ...

Maybe some confusion, I am in China now and the visa will expire on the 30th ... So will have to go down there asap. National day they said the visa office is closed for 7 days, so thought I might be able to get the Visa on Arrival when coming from HK or Macau.

Either that or have to go down on the 28th and do it 29th, collect on the 30th. But that seems to be out at the moment. A definite last resort.
