| Hi all, I currently live in Beijing. I'm planning to go to Hong Kong to get my new visa. I have found several agencies listed below. If any of you have experience with any of them, could you please tell me how did it go? 1) Japan Travel Agency, @ Tsim Sha Tsui East 2) Sunrise international, @ Wanchai 3) Forever Bright Trading Limited (FBT), @ TST East > same day L/F $360, 4 hours $1,050 4) Everbest Photo Supplies Ltd, @ Central (under HKStreet.com) 5) Hotelinhongkong.net, @ TST East > next day L $880, next day F $1230 Which do you recommend? I'd like to apply for the Urgent/Express service (same day or at the latest, next day). I might stay for another 3 months here. If I get new L visa it can be extended 2 more times and if I get F visa, most of the time the extension is either not available or really expensive. Any suggestion? If I have F visa invitation letter, will it give me better chances to get F visa, instead of L visa? or L visa still the best bet to apply from HK? Another question, taking flight from Beijing to HK is expensive, taking train is time consuming. To save time and $, I'm planning to fly from here to Shenzhen, then take MTR/Bus/Ferry to HK. I believe some of you have had traveled from Beijing to HK through Shenzhen. If any of you could give me any tips, insights, please let me know.. Is staying in Guest House / Hostel worth the price? Heard some horror stories, however some people said there are some decent GH/Hstl as well. As of now, decent hotels price is out of my range. Thank you for any help! |

| You didn't state your nationality: unfortunately it is harder for some than for others. Assuming you are not in the more difficult category (read general TCG visa info) you should not need an agent. If you arrive at the visa office in HK at opening time you should be able to get a visa the same day, but definitely for the next day. If you are simply a tourist just apply for a tourist visa. Apply for the longest term possible... although it seems 1 month is typically the limit, they have the power to issue longer....so if you apply for 3 months weeks because you are with a friend or something you might get it...TRY! Yes. you should be able to get 2 more visas (they are new visas, not renewals) on the mainland. I haven't stayed in the real HK Youth Hostels in HK, but I hear they are quite good. The main issue is that they are out of the way. You are right that the cheap accom in HK is not great. Most is situated on the Nathan Road or Causeway Bay.... Maybe the Causeway Bay ones are slightly better, but for one night....any place is OK. The accom is situated in buildings with separate floors or half floors operating seperately....so you can can easily check out several...but I think you'll find they are all much the same for a similar price. |
