Fengshui (geomancy in English) seems to be very important to Chinese people. In ancient times, if a boy and a girl want to get married, their parents usually find a geomancer to see their DOB (date of birth) and horoscopes. The geomancer will tell you if they are a good match. If not, the parents might interfere in and won’t let them together. Things have changed today. But most parents (especially in countryside) still invite a geomancer to choose an auspicious day for their kids’ wedding.

Feng Shui also plays a very important role in architecture. It is said that they layout of your house influence your luck. The Feng Shui theories are applied in ancient complex buildings very well.

Do you know much more about Feng Shui?

Just watched a document about The Bank of China building in HK. The architects, a father and son, American chinese, said that desinging the building had nothing to do with Feng Shui.

In the opposite I read about another building in China, which was checked by an old chinese man, a specialist of Feng Shui (don't know what they are called). There was something wrong all the time in the building. The old man told that the building was built just to a dragons flight route. To a place in the building the old man said the route was they made a hole through the whole building for the dragon to fly. After that the problems finished.

To be honest your question sounds strange to me since every traditional ancient culture has its own 'Fengshui', even Amazon or Borneo's tribes have their own and altought can be different from Chinese Fengshui the importance and the meanning is very similar.

Fengshui is very popular in Southern China, especially in Fujian, Guangdong and HK. It is not all about superstition. Some theories are reasonable.
