The high-speed trains (also called G trains) between [tcgurl=https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/shanghai.htm]Shanghai[/tcgurl] and [tcgurl=https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/hangzhou.htm]Hangzhou[/tcgurl] formally operated on Oct. 26. The G train has an operating speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It just takes about 45 minutes from Shanghai to Hangzhou. Running from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, all of the 40 G trains are open from 6:12 to 21:45 everyday. The ticket fares are as follows: 131 RMB (first class) and 82 RMB (second class).

Passengers should remember that G trains depart from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, not Shanghai South Railway Station.
