It takes around 2 hours and 40 minutes if you take long distance bus. Here are other options:

1.take airport shuttle bus line 1 from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Airport. Then take subway line 2 to Hongqiao Railway Station. There you can take G or D trains to Suzhou Railway Station.

Shuttle bus ticket: 30 RMB. Time: around 1 hour. G train ticket: 65 RMB (first class) 41 RMB (second class). Time: around 40 minutes.

In all, you need around 2 hours to get to Suzhou.

2.take subway line 2 from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Railway Station. It takes around 2 hours. Then you can take D/G trains. In all, you need about 2.5 hours.
3.take maglev from Pudong Airport to Longyang Road. Then change subway line 2 to Hongqiao Railway Station. It can save around 30 minutes. But the maglev is expensive. It takes 50 RMB. Then take G/D trains.

If you take trains at Hongqiao Railway Station, it brings you directly to Suzhou Railway Station. Just remember that last G train leaves at 19:46 from Hongqiao Railway Station.

My suggestion is take direct long distance bus if you are not in a hurry. You needn’t transfer via different transport tools. But the bus doesn’t go to Suzhou Railway Station. It stops at Suzhou Industrial Park and No.115 West Ganjiang Road.

If you are not hurry, I suggest you stay one night in a hotel near the airport. Then take long distance bus or trains at Hongqiao Railway Station next morning as I said above. If you are in a hurry, you need to hire a taxi. The cost is about 500-600 rmb.

Take airport shuttle bus line 1 to Hongqiao Airport and then go to Hongqiao Railway Station to take G trains to Suzhou.

Bus fare: CNY 30. Duration: around 1 hour.

Train: just takes around 30 minutes.

Both bus and train are OK. If by shuttle bus, you could reach Hangzhou directly from Pudong airport in 3 hours. If by train, you need to make a transfer at Shanghai Hongqiao railway station. FYI: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/shanghai/transportation/airport-shuttle-bus.htm
