TENGU Points: Join Date: Dec 12, 2010 Status: offline	I will be in China from 12/19/2010 - 01/15/2010. I land in {Beijing,https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing.htm} then go to Xian. My departure is from {Shanghai,https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/shanghai.htm}. What is the best way to fit in and travel to Mount Wudang and the Shaolin Temple. Train? Bus? Keep Xi'an as my home base? Should I go Beijing > {Zhengzhou,https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/henan/zhengzhou/} > Xi'an > {Shiyan,https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/hubei/shiyan/} or is there an alternate route I should investigate? Are there any major sights I should also see in that general area? Are bullet trains available? My schedule is flexible I just need to be in Shanghai by my departure date. Any information and help would be appreciated. Any advice would be most welcome.

Just do a little change to your route: Beijing-{Xian,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/xian.htm}-Shiyan-Zhengzhou-Shanghai.

Beijing to Xian: take train or flight. Search trains and flights on [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/beijing-schedule.htm]Bejing Trains[/tcgurl] and [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-flights/cheap-beijing-flights.htm]Beijing flight[/tcgurl].

Xian to Shiyan: You can take direct long distance bus to [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/hubei/wudangshan/wudangshan.htm]Wudang Mountains[/tcgurl] at Xian Bus Station of Shaanxi located to the southwest of Xian Railway Station. It takes about 4.5 hours and costs CNY 110.

Shiyan to Zhenzhou: take trains. It takes around 10 to 11 hours. Search trains on [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/]China Train Schedule[/tcgurl]

Zhengzhou to Shanghai: either trains or flights.

PS: If you want to experience D trains, just take D88/D85, D84/D81 and D184/D181. It takes 7 hours and 15 minutes. The ticket prices: CNY 239 (second class soft seat) and CNY 299 (first class soft seat).

Actually there are G trains between Zhengzhou and Xian. You may take G trains from Xian to Zhengzhou and visit Shaolin Temple first. It takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes. Ticket prices: CNY 240 for second class soft seat and CNY 390 for first class seat.

Then take bus or train from Zhengzhou to Shiyan.

Bus: take long distance bus at Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station.
