Do I need to join a one-day tour in Beijing?
Dec 21, 2010 01:54
guestBRUCE I came to {Beijing,https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing.htm} last Feb for a business trip and didn’t spend much time there. This time, I will arrive in Beijing again, for business trip too. My schedule is not very tight this time. I have my free time ( probably 1 or 2days) .So I think of visiting some places in Beijing.

Well, I am not familiar with this city at all. Do I need to join a tour? I do not want to get myself exhausted since I need get back to my home and deal with my job.

PS: I need to book a hotel near Zhongguancun. Have no idea where it is. Can you help me find a hotel?

Guest,

Just read [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/package/beijing.htm]Beijing Tours[/tcgurl] to choose one. There are [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/package/beijing-one-day-tours.htm]Beijing One Day Tours[/tcgurl]

And you can find a hotel on [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/beijing-hotels.htm]Beijing Hotel[/tcgurl] too.

I don't think it's a good idea to join group tour since you don't have much time and tour group normally waste your time. If you really can't do it by yourself (I mean to take taxi and a tour map which is really easy), you could try to find a personal guide. That would work perfectly well, as long as the person you find is nice. You just need to contact them before your arrival to find out whether they would be a good company or not. And it's very easy to get lots of freelance tour guides...

As for the hotels, I don't know about the service they provide on this web but it seems lots of people using it. I always use www.ctrip.com to make the bookings - they have a very good discount... You can find the information really easily.

i think you needn't to join a one day tour .you can take a map ,and go anywhere you want .and you can visit freely .but if you want to know more about the history and the culture, ithink you can find a tour guide ,and they can solve your language problem and give you details explanation about the scenic spots .

By the way ,i am Amanda ,and if you need my help ,you can contact me !

Happy new year!

Well, normally it's easy to walk your own way but there are lots of traps here, for example the "young English majors" who would take you tour and then to some silly price tea house or gallery. Watch out~~

GUEST05624 Get yourself a bilingual personal guide, if you speak no chinese.
Tours will take you to too many shops, which will take you to the cleaners (meaning: will take your money).
There is a lot to see in Beijing, enjoy!

Agree with GUEST05624. But if you choose some luxury tour or sightseeing-only tour there will be no shops - expensive though. So the best way is to find a personal guide and try to talk to him / her before you make the decision whether to take it or not...
