 | I have been working in China, fell in love with a Chinese girl. She is now visiting me in America and we are wondering what is the best way to get married. Just get married now? Apply for a different visa? It is unclear to me. Seems she will have trouble coming back to America if we just get married. On the other hand she is here now. Anybody with knowledge about this? |

| GUEST55167 | I strongly suggest you call someone at ICE and ask them what to do. Make sure you have her visa and passport available so you can tell them what kind of documents she has. If you're still confused or they won't/can't answer your questions, you should talk to an immigration attorney. Even an hour's talk with someone who really knows the answer can make your whole life easier; and even if it costs you a few hundred dollars you'll pay a lot more than that in money, time, and frustration trying to sort it out if you do it wrong. Having said that, I think it might be easier if you get legally married in China first, then you can sponsor her green card application. But don't just take my word for it, I'm not a lawyer so I might be wrong. |
