Train Beijing to Chengdu question

guestJim	Hi everyone. I am outside China and my flight arrives in Beijing on Feb 24. I want to get a D train to Chengdu and to leave on Feb 28. Is 3 or 4 days enough advance purchase to get a ticket on D train to Chengdu? Hopefully they will not be all filled up. Thank you Jim

GUEST0074	Jim, I suggest you book your train ticket as early as you can. The Spring Festival is almost over during that time. But there is only one train (D317) from Beijing to Chengdu. GUESTJIM	Thanks 007 that is very helpful. Also do you know how strict are the baggage limits? I read that the limit is 20 kg (44 pounds)and the total length of each item cannot exceed 160 cm. They doesn't allow very much. I have 2 backpacks that probably exceed those limits.

I am surprised that you know the baggage limits clearly. The total length of each item should be less than 130 cm.

If your luggage exceeds the limits, you may check your luggage first. Currently, D trains do not accept checked luggage, which means your luggage will not be on the same train with you.

You can book train tickets with your passport in 12 days advance (sometimes 10 days). The residence is not required. I've done it before. You know, it is difficult for me to book the train ticket. Thus, I ask an agent to do it for me. Of course I have to pay service fee to them.

It seems that this website also has such a service to book train ticket. Ask them and see if they can help you with your train ticket.
