What is there at Nadam Festival?

Would it be reasonable to spend only a few days at Nadam Festival. And when is a good time to go - are there events happening the whole time it is on, or are there specific times for specific happenings. Really have no idea what to expect.....

That would be great. Myself and a friend have a month to spend in china, and the limited time means some planning to see what we would like!
