Hello,

I have a student visa that is valid until July 14, 2011. I need to start a medical treatment that would last until September and cannot be continued by another doctor. Therefore, I would like to know my options once my student visa has expired. I do not wish to continue my studies!

Can I extend/renew my student visa?
Do I need a tourist visa?
Can I change my student visa to a tourist visa?
Or are there any other options, such as a visa for medical reasons? (The hospital would state my case)

Can I do all the procedures in China or do I need to travel abroad (HK or back home)?

Thank you very much for any help.

Yes, you can change your student visa into tourist visa at the local Division of Entry and Exit Bureau of Public Security Bureau, the letter issued by the hospital stating your case is required. You don't need to travel abroad (Hong Kong or back home)

Thank you very much for the fast reply!

Do you by any chance know for how long that visa will be issued and if it has multiple entries? The doctors cannot determine the exact date yet since it is depending on the healing process. At this moment they say it should be OK by mid-August, but worst case scenario we are looking at up until December...

It is not multiple entries, the stay duration is up to the letter issued by the hospital, you can ask for the longest stay duration until December, then evething is Ok.
