Travel alone between hong kong and gunangzhou?

I'm going to Guangzhou from Hong Kong, I know nothing about travelling in China, can it be dangerous travelling alone at night? How about taxis? How is the best way to get between the cities?

You'd better not stay along too late at the street. Taking a taxi will be better.
You could take a train or bus from Hong Kong to Guangzhou.

HongKong is perfectly safe, while I can't say the same for Guangzhou, although it's not so bad (I live in both).

If you're 1st time here, just avoid all the hassle and take direct train from HongKong to Guangzhou, it's 1.5-2h and 190hkd.
