Hey there :) In july I'm visiting my family in the Philippines and I'm planning to extend my summer vaction to a two months trip to China. So far I've got two things planned: 1. Arrive in Hong Kong on august 4th 2. Be in Chengdu on august 14th (Hope to volunteer in the 14 days Panda program @ Bifengxia) In these two months I want to see more of the Sichuan and GuangXi provinces. However, I think I'll need more than 10 days to really appreciate either of these places (+ transportation have to be taken into account), so I have been thinking about staying around Guangzhou and do some exploring there before taking either the train or a flight to Chengdu. This is where I need your guys help :) Do you have any suggestion on what to spend these roughly 9 days on? Perhaps some day trips outside the city? Things to check out in the city? I haven't decided yet if I'm going to fly back home (Denmark) from Beijing or Hong Kong - so depending on this decision, I might come back to Guangzhou. I actually have some further question regarding some other destinations in China, but I think I'll wait with these until I get the first part of my trip somewhat planned. Hope you guys can help. Thank you Update: I should probably include that I am interested in landscape/scenery as well as Chinese history and culture :) Also I plan to use this trip as an opportunity to become a better photographer (practice makes perfect). E.g. places like "Qing Ping Herbal Medicine Market" is of interest.

Hi Michelle, Welcome to Guangzhou! That is great you could say the name of Qing Ping Herbal Medicine Market, which means u have know something about Guanzhou,or had done some search of Guangzhou. But if you arrive Guangzhou in May, the templeture will about 26 degree, that is nice as not so humid. Which cities you plan to stay in Guangxi? Guilin?

Hi IVYWEI, Thank you. I'm aware that august/september aren't the best months to travel weatherwise. However, due to school (will start on my master thesis this year) I can only travel in these months. So far I've listed these cities in Guangxi: * Guilin * Yangshou * Xingping * Longsheng: Longji (Dragon's Backbone) Rice Teracces * Sanjiang: Wing and Rain Bridges * Nanning: Detian Waterfalls Of course I might add a few more or delete some of them (all comes down to money and time, ya know ).
