| We are travelling from Sydney to Beijing with Air China (direct) in June and then onto Ulaanbaatar with MIAT 9 hours later. We are able to check our luggage through all the way to Ulaanbaatar in Sydney (I have checked this). However, I am nervous that because the flights are on different tickets and due to the delay in departure in Beijing, that the luggage handlers will not transfer it to the MIAT flight. This has happened to us before 6 years ago when we travelled via the old International Terminal and our luggage got left in Beijing while we continued onto Mongolia. I must admit, there were some differences at that time like Mongolia lacking a computerised airline system so you couldn't check luggage through from Sydney. We don't want to have to go through Immigration and check our luggage into the MIAT flight because of the visa issue and we have little children. Question: If we check our luggage through to Ulaanbaatar from Sydney and do the usual internal transfer procedures in Terminal 3 of Beijing Airport, will our luggage be transfered properly? |

GUESTDAVE | The luggage can be transferred properly. Make sure you have a connecting flight, not a seperate one. Otherwise, you will need to claim the luggage and then recheck it. |

| It's not a connecting flight - that is, they are on separate tickets. If that is the case, then it's going to cost us 300$ in visas just to transfer luggage - not good. thanks for the advice anyway. |

| There is the possibility that your luggage will be left in Beijing. I suggest you rechecking it. |
