travel to Tibet

I am looking for flights from Thailand to Tibet, and am having a
difficult time locating one. My first question is which airline to
use, and I'm also wondering if individuals can travel to Tibet
without a tour group? Any info would be helpful. We will be
flying from the USA to Thailand, and hopefully on to Tibet.

HI,
There is no flight between Thailand and Tibet, but you can take flight from Bangkok to Chengdu and then transfer from Chengdu to Lhasa. The daily flights from Chengdu to Lhasa are available.

There are no flights from Thailand to Lhasa. The only international city that Lhasa is connected with is Kathmandu, Nepal. The easiest way to get to Lhasa is via Chengdu. When entering Tibet from China, there is no need to be in a group tour. You do need to have a Tibet Travel Permit, however. These can be easily arranged at several guesthouses in Chengdu. The easiest way of getting from Thailand to Chengdu is via Kunming. There are flights from both Bangkok and Chiang Mai to Kunming. From Kunming, there are several flights a day to Chengdu.
