Transit at Beijing Airport for 10 hours

guest16183 Hello..I am an australian, traveling from Dubai to Phnom Penh. I have a 10 hour lay over at Beijing airport. I was told that i do not need a transit visa. Is it possible to leave the airport and have lunch with a friend outside? that would be great. the KLM visa site says you are able to leave the airport. Could this be true?

In principal, a visa is required if you leave Beijing airport during the 10 hours layover. There is an option is that you can try to apply for one day stay permit at Beijing airport. If you get the stay permit, you can leave the airport and have lunch with friend, otherwise, you have to remain at the airport to wait for the next flight.
