Last month, the salt-buying panic was triggered in many places of China by rumors that iodized salt could help ward off radiation poisoning caused by Japan’s nuclear emergency. This time, South Koreans began to stock up salt and sea weeds, fearing possible contamination from radiation in Japan. Some also believe that the salt can protect them from the radiation.

The shelf was empty in the supermarket.

It seems the situation in South Korea is not good. I've heard the primary students there have been on a holiday already, due to the fear of the possible radiation.
