A Chinese college student stabbed a cyclist six times to death when he was driving his Chevrolet Cruze at about 11 pm on Oct 20 last year. The victim’s name is Zhang Miao, a young mother. He firstly knocked her down and then stabbed her to death after finding her staring at him and trying to remember her car number plate. Yao injured two other passersby, a man and a woman when hurrying to flee the scene.

Yao Jiaxin went on trial last month. Yao’s lawyer defended that Yao killed Zhang “passionately” and he turned himself in so that he should be given a commuted sentence. But the victim’s lawyer insisted Yao killed Zhang intentionally and should be sentenced to death. The trial went on for 3 hours but no judge was made.

His case has caused a heated discussion. Many people believe that Yao Jiaxin has committed a serious crime so that he should be punished seriously too. Few people defend for him and suggest that the death sentence should not be used.

As an ancient Chinese saying goes, those who kill should repay with life. Yao Jiaxin has killed Zhang Miao. He should be sentenced to death.

Do you think he should be sentenced to death?

He must be responsible for what he have done. Obviously, he killed Zhang intentionally. He is unforgivable. The news reports that Yao Jiaxin's parents tried very hard to raise money to compensate Zhang's family and finally took out CNY150000.

Do not forget Yao drives a Chevrolet Cruze. It is worth more than CNY 100000. I do not believe that a family who can afford to buy such a car for his son need to raise money for compensation.

GUESTCICI Look, This guy's a murderer. Firs off, who the hell carries a knife while driving? He did. After he hit someone, instead of apologizing, he took out the knife and stabbed the woman 8 times. EIGHT FREAKIN TIMES! the woman was begging him not to kill her because she has a 2-year-old son at home. Nope, he made sure she was dead. He's a monster! It doesn't matter that he's still in college. He is 23 years old for god's sake!! He's old enough to be responsible for his own actions, period.

But he's not getting punished! All because he's from a wealthy and influential family, he thinks he could do anything including killing, and his parents will simply use connections and buy his way out.

What pisses me off more is that his attorneys, his classmates and the authorities at the trial all pleaded to forgive this demon. One criminal psychologist even said he's just a kid who lost his mind for a second, and the victim was an "unpleasant stimulus" that triggered him. F%*K that Bullsh*t! Please figure out who is the victim and who is the murderer before your start talking! You may be a criminal psychologist with a doctrinal degree, but what you said didn't make any sense. The audience are not idiots, we can tell you are desperately helping him, you are probably friends with his parents.

I am proud to be Chinese but I am so disappointed in the judicial systems in China. The judges only gave Yao an 8-year sentence after he hit a woman and intentionally stabbed her to death. What an example of justice! I am not sure I want to live in China anymore, because I might be the next victim to be stabbed.

He is a typical of the second rich generation, irresponsible, unruly, defiant, selfish...

It's time for them to learn something. If Yao was forgiven this time, it would only made those creatures more lawless.

He knelt down in the courtroom and apologized for his crime to the victim's family with tears in his eyes. He regrets now but it is too late. The victim once begged him for not killing her but he still stabbed six times madly.

The victim's family refused to take the money from Yao's parents. All they want is a fair trial.

Thank you LINGYUXISU. I am not a supporter of capital punishment but in this case I have no sympathy for the condemned.

Really good news. That's why death penalty should not be abolished.
