Recently, Industrial plasticizer has been detected from some beverages made in Taiwan. The DEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)) is used to soften plastics and make them flexible and forbidden to add to food products. It may cause cancer and also pose risks to children's reproductive organism.

It is reported that plasticizer has been widely found in drinks, cakes and breads, ice-cream, cosmetics, children’s toys etc. Or you can say it is found almost everywhere. So far, 945 kinds of products made in Taiwan have been contaminated by DEHP. The mainland China has stopped importing these products. Some other countries like Canada and Philippines have also started to check Taiwan products.

Xiaoxiao,

Do you know how DEHP was found? It was found accidentally by an inspector who worked at Taiwan Food and Drug Administration. It has been used for at least 30 years. Now the public just learn about it.
