guest12982 A Simple Math Question:

3 persons are checking into a hotel. They are told that the price is $10 per person, for a total of $30.
After they go to their room, the hotel manager thought that he overcharged them and decided to give them a small discount. So he gave them $5 back. Each person received $1 back, and there were $2 left undivided.

Now the question:
If each person paid $10, then received $1 back: $9x3=27
plus the undivided $2: $27+2=29

Where is the missing $1?

This was nice one!

The missing 1 is in the way of calculating. Finally, they paid $25, which can not be divided by 3, so each paid $8,33. Answer is: the missing $1 is in the paid 1/3. 1/3 x 3 = 1.
8,33 x 3 = 25.
