Heat wave hits the US, causing 25 people dead
Jul 25, 2011 02:09
guest6597 Due to the Heat wave in the east coastal areas of the US, the temperature in Washington reaches 49 degrees Celsius. Many people who suffer from heat exhaustion and dehydration are sent to hospital. And the outside activities in many places have been canceled.

The heat wave has killed 25 people in the United States. But no death report has been found in the Washington. To cope with the extreme heat, the Washington allows passengers to bring water when they take subways or buses.

What causes heat deaths?
#1 Elders who close all windows and doors thinking it will keep the heat out, when in reality it creates an oven like atmosphere indoors with no circulation.
#2 Those work outside and not taking the right precautions, by drinking sweetened drinks or beer, will magnify their chances of heat exhaustion and pass out. Sweetened drinks are the last thing to drink in the heat since it increases the blood flow rapidly.
#3 Those who think by excercising outside in the intense heat, that they will lose punds faster will in turn lose their life faster than what I spoke of in #1. This is very foolish and will greatly increase the chances of heat stroke.
Only a few foolish people will tempt fate by playing in a Tornado or lightning storm where the rest will take refuge indoors to avoid such tragic results. Intense heat or extreme cold is no different.
