Travel to Guilin from Shanghai or Ningbo

I am spending several days in Ningbo and then would like to fly to Guilin. I cannot seem to find any direct flights. Can anyone recommend whether it would be easier to take the train into Shanghai and get a direct flight from there, or to book a flight from Ningbo which would require a transfer in Guangzhou or Wuhan? Thanks in advance!

I would prefer to travel from Ningbo to shangahi Hongqiao railway station first by bullet trains, then take a flight from the nearby Hongqiao airport to Guilin. It saves money by train than by air. What's more, the domestic flight always delays. Just last night, my friend's flight from Lanzhou to Xian delayed for three hours. So if it is a flight transfer, I will really don't know how much time to leave out during the two flights.
