The riot in London is spreading across London to other cities as the police lose control. It is reported that disturbances have occurred in Liverpool, Leeds, Bristol and Birmingham. So far, about 225 people have been arrested and 35 police were injured during the riot.

Mr. Cameron, the PM of UK, has ended his vacation in Italy and gets back to deal with the riot. The report said that he insisted on not coming back before but finally changed his mind because the tension has been worsened.

Last week, the local police shot a man dead during a covert operation. Mark Duggan (the man killed by the police) was in a cab, being followed by police. Armed officers shot him dead during an exchange of gunfire. It is said that the riot has been sparkled by his death because the reports said it was possible that the police officers were not under attack when they opened the fire.

"After he was shot dead by the police, rumors spread online that he was killed in an assassination-style execution with shots to the head - something the IPCC was forced to deny in a statement.”----- excerpted from the www.smh.com.au

The riots have aroused people’s concern on the safety of the 2012 Olympic Games. But the IOC believes that the UK can ensure the safety of 2012 Olympics. What do you think?

More than 500 people have been arrested due to the riots in London and 105 of them have been prosecuted for being involved in the riot. The police announced that they would not bring in the military to cease the riot.

On the other hand, the investigation result shows that the man killed by the police didn’t open fire on the police before he was shot dead but he did draw a weapon. It is his death that sparked the riot in London. The cab driver was shocked by the exchange of fire and couldn’t be the witness at the moment.

GUEST19140 Fact: The police shot and killed a person.
Why then innocent shop keepers get looted?
I can't see the connection.
Were the looters looking for an opportunity to loot?

GUEST5465 Were the looters looking for an opportunity to loot?

I guess. Most of the looters are young men. They don't have jobs. All they can do is drinking and hacking around. Finally, they get a chance to vent their anger toward the society.
