| Lotus seed, lotus root and water chestnut are three treasures in lotus pond. The porridge made of three treasures tastes very well and good for your health in summer and autumn. Why not make it on your own? What you need: 1/2 small bowl of Hom Mali (Jasmine rice made in Thailand), two lotus pods, 10 water chestnuts, 50 grams lotus root and 1 shallot. Seasonings: 800 ml water and same salt. 1.Wash jasmine rice twice and put it in a casserole, and add 800 ml water and wait for 30 minutes. Then boil with high heat until it is boiling and simmer with gentle heat for 30 minutes. 2.Boil water chestnuts in a boiler when you boil the jasmine rice. Then get rid of the skin of the water chestnuts. 3.Get rid of lotus root’s skin and cut it into small pieces. 4.Take lotus seeds out of lotus pods. 5.Put lotus seeds, boiled water chestnuts and lotus root pieces in the casserole and boil for several minutes. 6.Add some salt and sesame oil and mix it very well. Dish off. You may put some minced shallot in the porridge if you like. Also you can use sugar candy instead of salt, sesame and minced shallot if you prefer sweet congee. |
