Hello, I am planning to come to China in a few months to meet my girl friend (a Chinese Citizen, 50 years old and I'm a foreigner - westerner 60 years old). We have been talking now for 5 months on Skype and yahoo and I can finally come to China to meet her.

We are both excited about finally meeting face to face and we decided to meet for the first time in Beijing, but she is worried about the laws of us staying in a hotel room together and has shared concerns about what could happen to her (her job and financially) if the PSB caught us.

I am planning on booking a 3 or 4 star hotel in Beijing and need to know if it is alright to stay together in the same room, as long as we both register, or if there will be problems doing so either by the hotel or the PSB?

GUEST17220 Most 3+ star hotels will automatically register you. If they cannot register you they should not allow you to stay there. If you stay anywhere else you need to register at the local police station within 24 hours of arrival.

GUEST56126 To get a room you need to show your passport. They make a copy for their records. Anybody can come to your room after that, as a guest.
