Dalian or Hainan?
Sep 9, 2011 09:24
guest50138 Hi there,

Wanted to study Chinese in either Dalian or Hainan next year starting from late February, 2012. Chose these two destinations simply for their seemingly good air quality. So I have three questions.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

1) Can you recommend a good Chinese language school/university in those areas?

2) Do the local people in the area mostly speak standardise Chinese, or do they mostly speak a local dialect? Asking because I want as many chances to practise and listen to Chinese as possible.

3) Are there any universities or language schools you would recommend that are great for learning Chinese and/or not have that much air pollution (I'm from Australia).

Cheers =)

GUESTDAVE I prefer Dalian. Hainan is more suitable for tourism. I know there is a Dalian University for Foreign Languages. People in Dalian speak standard Chinese, but in northeast accent. If you want to practice the standard Chinese, you'd better go to the bigger cities like Beijing and shanghai. not clear about the language school.

GUEST50138 yeh , you're right, hainan is definitely more tourist, the "hawaii" of asia. And that's probably one of the reasons that has attracted me, coz i'm an aussie boy, so i love my beaches and fine weather. i'll look up some schools in dalian. but do you know of any good schools in hainan?

Cheers
