According to Beijing Daily, the Forbidden City will limit the number of the visitors up to 80000 during the National Day Holiday (from Oct.1 to 7). Half of the 80000 tickets will be sold at the 18 ticket windows on the Meridian Gate Square, the other half will be purchased online. Unfortunately, the online-booking service is only available to Chinese travelers with their second generation ID cards.

During the National Day Holidays, there will be two special buses on the Meridian Gate Square. Tourists can also buy tickets from the two special buses. At the same time, Gate of Unified Harmony (协和门), Gate of Glorious Harmony and Gate of Heavenly Purity (乾清门) will be opened to guide the visitor flow. Tourist need to enter from the Meridian Gate (午门) and get out at the Gate of Devine Might (神武门)or the Donghua Gate(东华门).

From Oct. 1-3, the Forbidden City will extend its opening hours by one hour, opening at 07:30 instead of 08:30.
