 | Hello so I am planning on getting a degree of course I'm just not too sure what I want to do yet So are there jobs in China for americans without a degree in anything other than teaching english though I am very interested in teaching english I just have to get the training first I just was wondering about other jobs |

| GUEST01104 | China has no immigration policy and has more than enough highly skilled workers to fulfill its requirements. It therefore has no need to import foreigners unless they have a "special skill". That is a skill that a Chinese national cannot perform. Just about the only skill that falls within that remit is language teaching. The government are now more particular in whom they wish to employ and insist on a level of qualification. To get a reasonably paid legal job your prospective employer needs to be registered to employ foreigners. Without this they will not be able to provide you with a Z visa which is required to obtain residency and work permit. It is illegal to work on a F visa (business visitor) or an L visa (tourist) This must be your native language and you will also need a degree (not necessarily in the language), a teaching qualification (TEFL, TESOL) and preferably 2 years teaching experience. You might find that some schools who find difficulty in recruiting staff may accept lower qualifications. These are usually in less desirable areas and pay less money. Once you have these credentials you can find jobs advertised on this forum or on several other sites. Beware of unscrupulous agencies who are more interested in their commission than your welfare. |
