Is there a high level of infidelity or abuse? In Christianity, we have very strict rules for marriage, and premarital sex is considered to be a sin. 59-80% of the the Chinese claim to be irrelegious or athiest, according to Wikipedia. Where do ethical guidelines come from? Thank you for the answers.

GUEST69233 Although things are changing fast in China as the younger generation discover what is happening in the rest of the world, premarrital sex is still not the accepted norm. Virginity is still prized although not for religious reasons. Chinese males prefer a virtuous prospective wife although infidelity among married men is common. Education is very important in China and girls leaving college in their 20's have often not had time for boyfriends.

For security and financial reasons a Chinese girl will often look for an older man who can provide a good living standard. Coincidentally Chinese men prefer a younger bride.

GUEST15010 Religious belief does not mean moral or ethnic guidelines, there are many people who has a religious belief but commiting a crime, or doing evil things. Chinese people, although most of them do not have religious belief, they are kind, hardworking, and generally virtuous.

China has a history of over 5000 years, during which many moral guidelines has been passed down from generation to generation. We are both told by parenst and educated at school that we should respect the old, take care of the young, love the home country, work hard to earn what we want, do not do harm to others and help those who are in need.

I was suprised to know that premarital sex is a sin for Christians, so am I get the wrong information that many people in America already had premarital sex when they are teenagers? As far as I concern, premarital sex is widely accepted in Chinese cities, though rare in countryside.

Maybe we are misled by the American movies. Young boys and girls had sex when they were in high school. If you keep yoru virginity, others will laugh at you. Do the movies give wrong information?

Premarital sex has been accepted by many young Chinese girls. It's true.

GUEST42195 Christianity does proclaim that sex before marriage is a sin....the thinking being that sex is for procreation not pleasure. Catholicism still does not officially accept contraception by artificial means. Although Christianity in one form or another is the main religion in most of Europe and the US, it does not mean that everyone lives by the rules.
