i thought i could get a chinese visa in s. korea, but apparently the law changed a scant year or so ago, so it's no longer an option.

I'm visiting a Chinese friend in Beijing from school, and I'll only be staying in China for 9 days.

I'm a US citizen, and I already have a plane ticket from Beijing back to the states.

These are my questions if you'd be so kind:

1) Any recommendations on a visa service that's extremely reliable/quick... cost isn't much of an issue, but speed is.

2) So I can enter Macau/Hong Kong, get a visa, THEN buy a ticket to Beijing or is it pertinent that I show the ticket to Beijing prior to getting a visa in order to even get the visa?

3) Is it possible to get the visa within hours? What's the fastest possible time?

4) Macau or Hong Kong??? Heard so many great things about both... and while I'm hoping to only stay in either place for a day or two tops, it'd be great to just walk around and take it all in.

5) Total cost of the visa services around here for fastest possible processing speed?

Thanks so much for anyone willing to help. Merry Christmas.

GUEST6742 It’s hard to recommend a reliable and quick visa service agency. If you plan to apply for your visa in Hong Kong, you may try CIT HK(China Travel Service, Hong Kong). Usually, you will get your visa within a day. But I am not sure how much you have to pay for them.

It is ok for you to apply your visa in HK or Macau. It doesn’t matter whether you have your air ticket to Beijing or not since you are an American.

Both Hong Kong and Macau are nice. If you want to have your visa dealt by CTS, just stay in Hong Kong for one or two days. Ocean Park, Victoria Peak, Disneyland… There are many attractions. See the following page:

The visa cost is HK$1400 excluding the fee you paid to the CITS.

China Travel Service, Hong Kong is a travel agency but it can handle visa issues too. If you do it yourself, you may also get your visa within a day. BUT it's not 100% sure. If you let CTS do it for you, you will have a great chance to get your visa. But you have to pay them money.

CTS has its office in the airport. You can go to the office and let them do it for you.
