How can I travel to Central America on a budget?

I would love to travel to Costa Rica on a budget, but have heard it is pricey. I am interested in lush rainforest and beach environments and places where it is safe to travel solo.

Hi there,

a much cheaper option in Central America with lush rainforest (largest in Central America) and beach environment is Panama. Panama is a lot cheaper than Costa Rica, pretty safe, and their national currency is the U.S. Dollar.
