![]() | A riot occurred after a football match on Wednesday in Port Said, Egypt. Fans of rival football teams rushed into the stadium, throwing stones and sticks at each other and causing a stampede. So far, 74 were dead and moer than 1000 people were injured in the riot according to the Egyptian Health Ministry. An anonymous medical official disclosed that an unknown number of security officers were among the dead. According to the official report, two military aircrafts were sent to Port Said to transfer the football players and the injured. The Egypt’s state prosecutor has started an immediate investigation into the riot. But the Muslim Brotherhood, the country’s largest political force, suspected that the riot was staged by the supporters of former president Hosni Mubarak. |
