Thinking about a backpacking trip in south western China in July, particularly interested in visiting Yunnan. Possibly around two weeks. Departing from Hong Kong. Adventurous. Quite flexible but on a budget.

No, Macau's very expensive compared to south western China and I'm on a budget so not planning on going there. Plus I've been there loads of times before. Are you Chinese or western and how old are you if you don't mind me asking.

Still beckpacking in China is pretty expensive compared to Thailand, Singapore or Vietnam. How about Tibet I wonder?
I'm western, 21 years old and you are obviously western as well.

Yeah backpacking in China is quite expensive compared to South East Asia but it's nothing compared to backpacking in like Europe. The food, accommodation and transport in China is still cheap by western standards.
Tibet would probably be beyond my budget. Plus, getting there is not easy, especially if you're western. Lots of restrictions, permits, paperwork, etc. Check out the 'Get in' section on Tibet on wikitravel http://wikitravel.org/en/Tibet
Actually I'm not western. I was born in Canada but I'm Hong Kong Chinese and have lived in Hong Kong all my life. I'm an 18 year-old guy and I'm planning on travelling before I go to university.
