I will be traveling in Yunnan from April 19 to about April 28. I am trying to decide where to be for the holiday. I have checked and there are still flights available from Kunming to Guiyang or Guilin for example. Does anyone have a suggestion where to spend the holiday to avoid crowds as much as possible? Or should I just stay in Dali till May 2 or 3?

GUEST234234 If you want to avoid the crowds, Guiyang is a good option. It is not as popular as Guilin and Dali.

It is ok to stay in Daili until May 2 or 3. But you will encounter many tourists because of the May Day Holiday (May 1-3).

haha, i will go to Yunnan from 31th, March -5th April, i think that will be a nice place, Kunming, lijiang, dali, Shangarila...
