In ancient times, a special adult ceremony is held for girls on Girls’ Day to celebrate their coming of age. In the Tang Dynasty, Shangsi Festlvail (Girls’ Day) has become one of the three most important festivals. People still observe the adult ceremony for their girls on Girls’ Day. On March 24, a thousand girls join the adult ceremony held at the Tang Paradise on March 24 (March 3 on Chinese lunar calendar). They wear white and black Han costumes, go through the process of washing hands, looping their hair and kneeling down three times and then become adults. It is worthwhile to note that some foreign girls join the adult ceremony. It is a great opportunity for them to learn about Chinese traditional culture. ![]() |
