Hello,

I myself have not actually crossed the boarder from China into Laos but I have been very near. Northren Laos is an amazing place full of beauty and culture. When I was there I had some of the most amazing experinces of my Loas journey. If you have a lonley planet guide it will help you find all the really nice places. I have to tell you though get ready for some of the roughest bus rides you will ever take. The buses in Loas are made not only for people but also for pigs, sheep, chickens, motorbikes, huge sacks of rice, and every other fruit or vegetable you can imgaine. You will plow through rivers, gorges, and mountains and will have at least 3 flat tires before you arrive anywhere.
All in all Laos is just great!
Good luck with your travels
Kyle
