how to get from Beijing to Xi An?

What the best/easiest/cheapest way (I realize those 3 options could yield multiple conflicting responses....) to get from Beijing to Xi An (to see the Terracotta Army/Warriors). Car hire? Flying? Train? Tourist Bus? Does anyone have any good advice about this???

Take Z or T trains from Beijing West Station to Xian Railway Station and then take No.306 bus at the Eastern Square of Xian Railway Station to Terracotta Army. Bus ticket: CNY 7.

Note: There are many unlicensed buses that take visitors to Terracotta Army too. Please do not get on these buses.
