Transit in Shanghai: How much time to allot for customs?

guest23611	I will transiting in Shanghai on the following days & would like to find out how much time will I take to clear customs & what time I should be back at the airport before takeoff. I plan to pop into the city center if possible during my transit & would like to maximize the time there. 29 May (tues) Arrive 5:50am Depart 1pm 8 Jun (fri) Arrive 5:35pm Depart 11pm Any advise is very much appreciated!

GUEST23611	When I arrive at Pudong airport, would I be able to clear customs in 40mins? And checking in 1 hr before my transit flight depart sufficient time?
