The primary reason for my trip is to spend between 2-3 days observing the preparation of my first order from a factory in Shandong Province. I have spoken to the factory people through my translator in the US, and most of the business is already agreed upon, so there will not be any difficult negotiations. But no one at the factory speaks much english, so I need a translator to accompany me. I prefer someone from Beijing so we can meet beforehand and travel to Jinan together. I would like someone who will make a nice impression, is intelligent and good company. We’ll take a fast train to Jinan City and stay 2 nights in a hotel. The first day will probably just be travel, planning for the meeting and relaxing. The second day we'll be at the factory learning about their production and inspecting the product for shipment. The 3rd day should only involve arranging payment, transportation, etc. We may not even have to go to the factory and will probably take the train back. Most of the translation will be social as my contact and I seem to like each other and would like to know each other better. We’ll probably meet 2 or 3 times for dinner or lunch during my visit. Most of our conversation will involve our personal backgrounds, stories and joking around. At the factory you'll have to translate what he explains about the product, production, etc. But that will be not be complicated. You don’t need previous knowledge or special vocabulary. The only other work will be to play guide and tell me about China, etc and help me on some personal errands in Beijing (I'm looking to buy a warm silk comforter) and helping me to practice my Chinese. Shangdong is famous for plywood ,gypsum board , painting making machine ,canned food ,potatoes .etc. Have a great time and enjoy your trip !
