I am visiting rizhao from Qingdao and have to admit that there is very little to do here except shop. The plaza by the sea is nice and didn't seem too polluted according to the accounts I've read from others but it's still essentially dead as far as things to do for expats. I haven't had any experience with the locals friendly or otherwise but that's all I can say.
