Is it possible to do all of this in 10 days?

guestBecca Hi!

My cousin is getting married Fall 2013 in Shanghai--I would like to go for 10 days to experience not only the wedding but also the sights around. I usually spend my time in Nanjing when I visit China but this time I want to travel westward.

I was thinking of arriving in Beijing, sightseeing there and moving on to Shanghai for the wedding then to the Sichuan Province. From there, I would love to see the countryside as I make my way back to Beijing for my flight home.

Is this possible to accomplish in 10 days time or am I creating too hectic of a schedule? I'm not sure how long a wedding ceremony will last, I am giving myself 2 days in Shanghai for it.

Thanks!

GUEST4379 It's doable. You may spend 2 or 3 days in Beijing to cover almost all famous tourist places. Then you can head to Chengdu. Do you have any plan to see giant pandas? If so, go to Panda Breeding Base in Chengdu. The scenery in Jiuzhaigou is amazing in fall. Maybe, you can go there for a visit. Afwards, you can get back to Chengdu and experience local life and then fly back to Beijing.

GUESTBECCA Thanks! What about my middle journey to Shanghai? Can I spend 2 days in Beijing, go to Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou for 4 days, then go to Shanghai for the wedding (3 days) and take the train back to Beijing? Maybe I should book for 11 or 12 day vacation instead...

It’s ok. I suggest you fly from Beijing to Chengdu if you can afford the air ticket because it takes around 30 hours by train from Beijing to Chengdu. The air ticket costs around CNY 1150.

From Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou, you can go to New South Gate (新南门) Bus Station to take long distance bus. It costs from CNY 123 to 138 and takes about 10 hours. The last bus leaves at 09:20 in the morning.

After you visit Jiuzhaigou, you can take a taxi or airport shuttle bus to Jiuhuang Airport and fly to Shanghai. The air ticket is around CNY 21 Be aware that the airport shuttle bus may not depart on time. Taxi fare: around CNY 200 at daytime and CNY 260 during night. Shuttle bus fare: around CNY 45.

Here is the other way, take long distance bus back to Chengdu and then go to Shanghai by train. But it takes too much time.
