![]() | Hi there, I got married last week, we were planning to get the certificate on 31st July but because they had changed the rules slightly we couldn't get married until 1st August. So I just wanted to pass this information on to others! The new rule being rolled out is that if you are a foreigner you can no longer get married in the capital city of the province from which your Chinese partner is from. YOU MUST GO TO THE CITY WHERE THEY ARE REGISTERED, i.e. their home town or the closest city to it. So we couldn't get married in Guangzhou, we had to go to where he was registered in Meizhou, which is a few hours from his actual home village. I've written more useful details here: http://writingmywaythere.tumblr.com/ I thought it would be a fitting start to my blogging life ![]() There's a lot of useful information in the blog, I've even included pinyin and Chinese characters for some key items as I know how frustrating it can be to communicate to Chinese people in pinyin without any Chinese characters! Especially if your pronunciation is as bad as mine. ![]() |
