I've seen words like these:
平平坦坦(的)
明明白白(的)
开开心心(的)
Do they mean the same as 平坦(的), 明白(的) and 开心(的)??
If yes, what is the point of using the doubled ones?

GUESTBAIMAO It is very alike,but not the same, and it is really hard to explain the difference even for a chinese like me...

I think they are the same as adverb, but differs a little in rank/degree. The doubled ones are comparatively with more emotion.

Doubled words are sometimes used for emphasis.
