TANZANIANS STRUGGLING FOR CHINESE VISA
Oct 11, 2012 22:31
guest95108 Dear Sir,
I am a Tanzanian wanting to visit China for business. I went to see the embassy on 4th October after the holidays and was told by security guard that they do not accept new names and asked me to come on Monday 8th Oct.I went on 8th and again security verbally told to come on Thursday today 11th Oct.
I went today at 7.30 am. The embassy door opened at 9 am and they started taking people by reading names. The guard again told those of us who had no "number" would not be issued untill 23rd October. There was no official word or notification from the Embassy regarding this. People outside the Embassy felt that they are being denied appointment unfairly as some agents would say that they can speak with the security guard to fix an appointment ie get the "number"
Many of us who would not get appointment for a week had to attend fairs in Guanzhou or Yiwu.We feel that the embassy has no tranparent procedures for issuing appointment leaving room for possible abuse.
On service days, hundreds of people stand outside in hot sun and rain waiting to be attended some only to despair.
Some months ago Security Forces were called in to disperse angry crowd of would be visa seekers outside the Embassy in Dar-Es-Salaam after weeks of following up without success
We request relevant officials from China and Tanzania to look into this as it denies us an oppurtunity to free trade with China which has substantial investment and Chinese community in the country.
Justin
