I'm trying to figure out internet access for when we move to Shanghai in a few months. From reading the forum, it appears that I have two options:
1) Purchase a public VPN subscription
2) VPS/Proxy server. I read this thread: http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/phpbbforum/post1543791.html , and it seems like a reasonable approach.

I'd appreciate any feedback about the pros and cons of the alternatives. Should I expect similar speeds from each? Similar reliability? Similar protection to crack-downs? Similar access to hulu or netflix? Similar costs?

thanks in advance!
